REPORT: Buffalo Bills Cut Running Back In Curious Roster Move Ahead Of The NFL Trade Deadline
The Buffalo Bills have released a veteran running back in Darrynton Evans this Tuesday, with several moves happening around the NFL ahead of the November 5 transfer deadline.
The team has revealed cutting Evans following his return from the injured reserve, but they’ve done it with a view of signing him back.
Evans returned from the IR earlier this month, and his 21-day practice window is about to close.
The Bills have opted to release him instead of having a healthy player spend the rest of the season on the injured reserve. They can add him back to their practice squad and then bump him up to their 53-man roster should he go unsigned.
Darrynton Evans Has Played For Four Teams So Far
Evans, a former standout at Appalachian State, was a third-round pick by the Tennessee Titans in 2020. He spent two years with the Titans before a move to the Chicago Bears in 2022.
The 26-year-old spent time with the Bills, Bears, and Dolphins in 2023 and signed a reserve contract in Buffalo during the offseason. He was placed on the injured reserve before the current term began.
Meanwhile, the Bills lead the AFC East after eight weeks of action and are 6-2 following a third-straight win on Sunday, in which they beat the Seattle Seahawks 31-10 away from home.
They are set for a showdown vs. the Miami Dolphins in their next game and will hope to create even more distance in the AFC East with a fourth consecutive win.
