Patrick Mahomes Sr. has learned his fate on the back of a recent guilty plea and will count himself among the extremely fortunate as he’s set to avoid going to prison.
The 54-year-old, the father of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, found himself in a precarious position where the law is concerned, as he was arrested ahead of the Super Bowl in February.
The incident marked Patrick Sr.’s third DWI arrest and left him staring at a potential 10-year prison spell. However, he will not spend any time in jail as long as he adheres to certain conditions.
The former Major League Baseball pitcher submitted a guilty plea on Tuesday, before the case went to trial. According to KLTV, he has agreed to five years of probation with “intense supervision” to be carried out during the first year of the sentence.
He will be formally sentenced on September 23, but he should be breathing easy at the moment as it’s now just a case of making the plea deal official.
Patrick Mahomes Sr. Has Taken Some Serious Steps Since He Was Arrested Earlier This Year
Five years is a long time to be on probation, but Patrick Mahomes Sr. shouldn’t have anything to worry about as long as he stays committed to sobriety.
Earlier this month, he revealed having gone six months without alcohol, thanking his loved ones for their help during what must have been a challenging period.
“I would like to Thank my God wife family and friends for 6 months on the sunny side of the road. I know it’s been hard getting to know sober Pat but it’s well worth it. Trisha Mahomes thanks for all you do,” he announced in an Instagram post.
It appears Pat Sr. is doing all he can to stay out of trouble, which is indeed commendable. Here’s to hoping he sticks to it.
