We learned that Novak Djokovic and P Diddy are friends when the American rapper came to the US Open in 2011 to support the Serbian tennis player in his match against Roger Federer.

Djokovic, a four-time Grand Slam champion at the time, was looking to win his first US Open title that year, which he eventually did. Taking to Twitter at the time, Novak thanked Diddy for his support and added that his team thinks the rapper is “cool.”

“Thanks for the support on Saturday at the US Open!” The whole team thinks you are very cool,” Djokovic wrote at the time.

Photos of the rapper in Djokovic’s box flooded social media when news of Didi’s arrest broke.

P Diddy was arrested following serious allegations of sexual abuse and human trafficking. Following his arrest, fans reminded Djokovic of the tweet from 13 years ago and suggested he delete it immediately.

After the semi-final match of the US Open in 2011, Djokovic confirmed in a press conference that he had known Didi for a long time.

“Well, it was great to be there (in the pits). We met at a party, but I can’t talk about the details. It was fun. He is obviously a huge star in show business, he is successful and has a strong character. I think the way he supported me was very interesting,” Novak said at the conference “Woman.blitz.rs”.
