Morgan Wallen Roars Back Into the Charts to Kick-Start 2025; Potential Album Easter Egg Sends Fans Into a Frenzy

Morgan Wallen Shares New Single and Music Video 'Smile' to Close 2024

Morgan Wallen finished out 2024 strong after some very public upheaval. He landed his first Entertainer of the Year title at November’s CMA Awards. The next month, he surprise-dropped his latest single, “Smile,” on New Year’s Eve. And it would seem fans are loving it, as the heartbreaking tune recently debuted among the top 30 on the latest edition of Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.

Morgan Wallen Is Back on the Charts

Ever since Morgan Wallen dropped the sprawling 36-track One Night at a Time in 2023, fans have been obsessively refreshing his social media page for any hints about his next project. While we still do not know a title or release date for his fourth studio album, the “Wasted On You” singer has shared a few snippets. He has released three singles from the forthcoming record: “Lies Lies Lies,” “Love Somebody,” and “Smile.”

Just one week after its release, “Smile” has debuted at No. 27 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart dated Jan. 11, 2025. And many fans have expressed their belief that the song’s current ranking is too low. “You should add that Smile debuted with less than 3 days of tracking because it was released on Tuesday and not on Friday,” one wrote on X/Twitter. “His other releases got a full week.”

Still, it’s a more-than-respectable start to a brand-new year. Wallen is up for two awards at next month’s Grammys: Best Country Song and Best Country Duo/Group Performance. Both nominations are for “I Had Some Help,” his duet with Post Malone.

Fans Think They Know the Title of Wallen’s Next Album

Swifties aren’t the only fanbase on constant alert for Easter eggs. Some social media users think Morgan Wallen used the music video for his latest single, “Smile,” to hint at the title of his next album.

In the video, Wallen portrays a troubled country star who performs on a New Year’s Eve talk show episode. And some viewers speculated that the talk show’s title, “Dark Til Daylight,” could be the title of his next record.
