Report: Trisha Yearwood ‘Believe’s Garth Brooks Amid Allegations
As Garth Brooks faces charges of sexual assault and battery, his wife and fellow country superstar Trisha Yearwood is reportedly standing by him.
“Garth is known to be a very kind and nice man, so these allegations are very shocking,” explains the source, who recently worked with Brooks, according to US Weekly. “Everyone around him including Trisha and his daughters believe him to be telling the truth.
“Many around him think this is out of character and something he would never do,” the source continued. “Everyone around him is shocked.”
Brooks is being accused of sexual assault and battery in a lawsuit filed by an anonymous Jane Roe in California on Oct. 3. The complaint details an alleged rape and multiple instances of sexual abuse and harassment. Jane Roe identified herself as a hairstylist and makeup artist who began working for Brooks in 2017, and had been working for Yearwood since 1999.
The same day that the lawsuit was filed, Brooks responded to the allegations against him, saying that Roe was accusing him of “ugly acts” in a money grab.
“For the last two months, I have been hassled to no end with threats, lies and tragic tales of what my future would be if I did not write a check for many millions of dollars. It has been like having a loaded gun waved in my face,” his statement reads in part.
Elsewhere, he wrote, “I trust the system, I do not fear the truth, and I am not the main they have painted me to be.”
Yearwood has not offered any official statement on the charges filed against Brooks. His daughters — one of whom is country singer Allie Colleen — have not commented publicly on the allegations against their father, either.
On Oct. 2, one day before the lawsuit against Brooks was publicly filed, Yearwood officially sold the historic Tennessee manor where she filmed Trisha’s Southern Kitchen for 11 years. She had initially listed it in 2023 for $4.5 million, then pulled it from the market, dropped the price and re-listed it before it sold for $3.34 million.
Brooks and Yearwood have been married since December 2005. He shares his three daughters with his first wife, Sandy Mahl, whom he divorced in 2001.
What is Garth Brooks Accused Of?
Two alleged incidents are described in Jane Roe’s lawsuit, which was obtained by CNN and described in graphic detail by TMZ.
Both incidents are alleged to have happened in 2019. In the first, Roe says says she was at his home when he walked out of the shower nude, grabbed her hands and forced them onto his genitals. She says he also used language that was sexual in nature.
The second incident allegedly occurred when Brooks was booked to perform a Grammy tribute to Sam Moore in Los Angeles in May. Roe claims that she and the country star were the only two to board a private plane to California — not a common occurrence, she notes — and once there, she was surprised to learn that their hotel suite had just one bedroom. She claims that Brooks stood in the door of the hotel room, overpowered her and raped her.
Roe also alleges in the legal filings that Brooks physically groped her, told her sexual fantasies and undressed in front of her on multiple occasions. It also states that she stopped working for him in 2021.
