The 49-year-old media personality summed up his thoughts in five words.
Willie Geist isn’t one to judge any of the names who spoke out ahead of the 2024 presidential election, he’s also not one that’s going to miss the abundance of unsolicited opinions.
The Today and Morning Joe personality was recently asked what he thought about the onslaught of political endorsements shared by some of the most respected Grammy winners, movie stars and celebrity names out there during this most recent election season and there’s really no arguing with what he had to say.
As you may recall, a surprising amount of A-listers spoke out in support of Vice President Kamala Harris‘ campaign or stepped out to perform as part of an elaborate rally, including Bruce Springsteen, Taylor Swift, LeBron James, Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Garner, Ron Perlman, Jennifer Lopez, Beyoncé, Ricky Martin, George Clooney along with Whoopi Goldberg and her co-hosts on The View, as well as several members of the Avengers, among many others.
Despite the long list of names, the 49-year-old told TMZ that it “certainly didn’t help this time” as Harris ultimately conceded the race to Donald Trump after the election results were called on Wednesday, Nov. 6.
Still, he said that he believes if a Hollywood star feels strongly about something, they shouldn’t let the thought of defeat stop them.
“I think people, if they feel strongly about something, they should speak out about it. It just doesn’t mean it’s gonna make a difference, though,” he added, before joking about growing sick of listening to campaign ads.
It wasn’t just Harris and her would-be vice president, Tim Walz, who developed an archive of famous supporters. The former president also had some pretty familiar names publicly endorsing his campaign, co-signed by J.D. Vance. Actor Dennis Quaid, country singer Jason Aldean, astronaut Buzz Aldrin and reality TV personality Dr. Phil all spoke out in approval of the Republican-backed ticket ahead of the Nov. 5 election.
