Tiger Woods’ Son Reveals His Real Mentality With Comments on Golf

Charlie Woods may only be 15 years old, but the golf prodigy is already showing uncanny signs that, when it comes to mentality and motivation, he’s just like his famous father, Tiger, 49.

Having Charlie around the golf scene appears to have given Tiger a new lease on life as he can barely contain a smile whenever his son is around, and that was evident this month, when the teenager sunk a blind, 176-yard hole-in-one at the PNC Championship in which he and Tiger formed a team that pushed Bernard Langer and son Jason all the way to a playoff, before eventually succumbing to the Germans, who won with a -28 score.

Young Charlie has uncanny ability for his age, but it’s also the mental side of the game that he appears to have inherited from Tiger.

Woods is keen to be a major winner in the sport

Young Woods showed earlier this year that he has a strong mentality as he recovered from a bogey-double bogey start at Eagle Trace Golf Club, meaning he was +3 after two holes, but by keeping his score clean for the remaining 16 holes, and hitting birdies when he had the opportunities, that he was able to grind out a -1 score and qualify for his first USGA championship.

Tiger Woods was a nine-time USGA champion as he won three consecutive junior amateur championships, three US amateur championships, and three US Open titles as a pro. Now, Charlie wants to emulate that.

“The USGA means a lot to me,” he said.

“I want to win USGA Championships and hopefully one day the US Open.”

There have been 10 father-son combos in golf that feature family members who have both won PGA Tour tournaments. Though Charlie and Tiger are already an attraction, and budding icons, they have some way to go to match the exploits of, say, Willie Park and Willie Park Jr, who, combined, won six Open Championships between them.

Charlie Woods can bomb a driver, has an athletic swing, and arguably has the finest confidente he could possibly have in the game, in Tiger. But many children of legendary golfers have struggled to even stay on the tour for more than a few years, let alone win a tour event or a major. Few, though, would dare bet against Woods.
