World’s oldest T-series Bentley restored
Although it was left to “rot” for decades, the T-series Bentley has now been brought back to ‘life’ thanks to a complete restoration, so that it shines like it once did.
It is the oldest unit of the Bentley T-Series model, produced in 1965, Telegraph reports.
It was first used for testing and shown to journalists at the Paris Motor Show that year, after which it left the company and “disappeared”, only to be found 59 years later.
After it was found to be the first and oldest “living” unit of the Bentley T-Series, a detailed restoration followed with the aim of preserving the car in as original a condition as possible.
Some important parts, such as the dashboard and interior trim, were missing, and there were corrosion problems due to poorly done post-crash repairs.
However, its 8-liter V6.23 engine, which produces 228 horsepower, was in surprisingly good condition, but in need of servicing.
The same applies to the gear shifter, which required only “minor adjustments”, as well as the rear axle, which needed a new shock absorber.
Given the fact that replacement parts are hard to come by, Bentley’s restoration team found a donor car.
In this way, the restored Bentley received the missing parts and the corroded rear wing was replaced, the hydro-pneumatic steering control was “refreshed” and the dashboard was installed.
Now the Bentley T-Series has been restored to its 1965 state, which is why it can deliver factory performance when it comes to speed.
The car accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in 10,9 seconds and reached a top speed of 185 km/h. /Telegraph/
