“Wait and See!’ Chiefs Provide Rashee Rice Update
The Kansas City Chiefs provided an update on receiver Rashee Rice’s recovery after placing him on injured reserve.
Despite leaving their Week 4 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers with a win, the Kansas City Chiefs suffered a devastating loss to their offense.
Receiver Rashee Rice was carted off the field in the first quarter with a serious knee injury. The team has since placed Rice on injured reserve, but they have yet to designate his exact injury.

After the team originally feared Rice suffered a torn ACL, the lack of a clear answer from medical testing has provided some optimism that the injury is not as severe. While Rice will have to miss a minimum of four games with the injury, the Chiefs have yet to rule him out for the season.
After the move, coach Andy Reid spoke about the team’s plan with Rice’s recovery.
“I think it’s just wait-and-see, is where we’re at,” Reid said. “For his sake, we’re really hoping that things work out for the best, but let’s just see where it goes and leave it up to the doctors to see. I’m definitely not a doctor.”
Reid continued, addressing concerns about Kansas City’s receiving corps without Rice.
“Unfortunately, in this league, injuries happen and life goes on,” said Reid. “So, we’ve always expected the next guys to step up and roll, and it’s no different now. There’s not another Rashee, there’s other guys, though, that are very, very good, so we’ll be fine.”
Prior to his injury, Rice was Patrick Mahomes’ top receiver with 24 receptions for 288 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
