‘Absolute Garbage’ – Golf Fans Boycotting Tiger Woods’ League

Tiger Woods' TGL debut starts with predictable walk-out song, Charlie cameo

Tiger Woods officially made his debut in his simulator golf league on Tuesday night. While there were plenty of fans amped up about his return to the spotlight, some people weren’t amused by what they witnessed.

Fans got their first taste of the TGL last week on ESPN. They were able to watch Shane Lowry, Rickie Fowler, Xander Schauffele among others. Coming into tonight’s match, there was a lot more hype simply because Woods was in the lineup for Jupiter Links Golf Club. Prior to the start of the 3-on-3 match, he told fans what they should expect to see.

“We’re going to have fun,” Woods said. “I’ve got two unbelievable great talkers on my team, I think we’ll be giving each other crap more than the other team. We just want to showcase golf and have a lot of fun and entertain everyone who’s watching.”

Although there have been some great shots so far in tonight’s TGL match, there are a lot of people furious with the current product. In fact, some fans claim they will no longer watch a single second of this league.

“Watching simulated golf, this has to be the low in professional golf,” a fan declared.

“Is this meant to rival LIV? Absolute garbage if you ask me,” another fan said. “They can put all the mayo on this as they want to and it won’t change my mind.”

“It’s a joke and I will not watch it one second,” a third fan wrote. “Pompous players that are greedy I hope ESPN loses on the deal.”

“TGL is a joke and I’m tired of pretending that it’s not,” a social media user added.

Traditional golf fans were never going to be on board with a simulator league, but to call the TGL a disgrace to the sport seems a bit extreme.

Besides, it’s just the start of the TGL’s inaugural season. Woods and the rest of his creative team deserve time to make the proper adjustments.

The TGL will resume next Tuesday with a match between New York and Atlanta. That match will also be televised on ESPN.
