Snoop Dogg Responds to Criticism Over His Inauguration Performance at ‘Crypto Ball’
Artists from multiple genres are helping usher in Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration, set to take place Monday (Jan. 20.) Country star Carrie Underwood will perform “America the Beautiful.
Additionally, legendary disco group Village People is set to deliver their signature hit “Y.M.C.A.” The festivities have already begun with Friday’s (Jan. 17) first-ever Crypto Ball, which seemingly signals a friendlier approach to the industry from the incoming administration.
Rapper Snoop Dogg headlined the night’s entertainment, along with Rick Ross and Soulja Boy. Snoop has come under fire for performing at an event celebrating Trump’s inauguration. However, the “Drop It Like It’s Hot” rapper appears unfazed.
Snoop Dogg: “Got a Real Crip Up in the Crypto Ball”
Trump did not attend the inaugural Crypto Ball. However, multiple sources describe the event as a celebration of the president-elect’s support for cryptocurrency. The gala featured performances from Snoop Dogg, Soulja Boy, and Rick Ross.
Some fans were surprised to see the “Gin and Juice” rapper lend his voice to the event, as Snoop has been critical of the president-elect in the past. Many took to social media to express their opinion on Snoop Dogg’s decision to perform.
“Got a real Crip up in the Crypto Ball, bang bang,” Snoop said, flashing a peace sign at the camera.
It’s worth noting that the West Coast icon has previously invested in the digital asset industry. He first ventured into cryptocurrency in 2021.
Carrie Underwood Has Spoken Out About Inauguration Performance
Like Snoop Dogg, Carrie Underwood has faced online backlash for her upcoming “America the Beautiful” performance at Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration. The “Before He Cheats” singer previously shared a statement about her decision with People magazine.
“I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event,” she said. ““I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future.”
