Caitlin Clark reveals her favorite golfer, leaving Tiger Woods behind in her choice
Clark’s decision surprised more than one person due to the similarity between her story and Tiger
Caitlin Clark reveals her favorite golfer
Caitlin Clark is not only known for her impressive achievements on the court but also for her love of other sports, such as golf. While her career in the WNBA has been meteoric, with countless accolades for her skill, leadership, and ability to transform a team, her passions outside of basketball are also worth mentioning.
Recently, when asked about her golf idols, Clark surprised fans by mentioning Rory McIlroy, the talented Irish golfer, instead of Tiger Woods, a figure almost synonymous with world golf.
The reason Caitlin prefers McIlroy over Woods
In a recent interview, she spoke about how her love for the sport began when she was little, after her father gave her a pink golf club. This seemingly simple gesture was the catalyst for a lasting fascination with golf.
Although she never played competitively, Clark enjoyed the personal challenge that golf represents-a sport that, unlike basketball, is entirely individual. This aspect was one of the things that attracted her most to the sport, as she explained in her interview.
What’s interesting about her choice of Rory McIlroy as her favorite golfer is how this figure represents more than just athletic success. McIlroy, like Clark, has had a career filled with highs and lows but has always maintained an unwavering passion for the game.
The reson why Caitlin prefers
Like Tiger Woods, McIlroy is a role model in the world of golf, but Clark’s connection to him seems more personal. She highlighted how she always loved watching him play as a child and how she considered him a role model for his dedication and style on the course.
“Honestly, I tried to watch as much as I can and Rory was probably one of my favorite players growing up. I wish I always had the TV on watching him. But I had this pink little cute golf club growing up that I got for one of my birthdays. So I always begged my dad to take me out, go golfing but… Yeah, I loved it. I tried to be around it as much as I could… as much as I had time for it. I just played about every sport growing up, but I remember when I had like one-off weekend of not playing like soccer, basketball whatever it was…,” Clark expressed sharing the name of Rory McIlroy.
For Caitlin Clark, golf is not just a distraction or a pastime; it’s a way to connect with a different challenge, a way to enjoy competition in its purest form, where success depends entirely on oneself.
“I begged my dad to take me in. Obviously wasn’t very good but I loved being outside, trying something new adjust to the challenge of golf. Obviously a lot different from definitely basketball and the team aspect is much more individual so that’s another challenge I love about it too,” Clark expounded.
