Jonathan Owens scored a touchdown on his debut for the Chicago Bears and his wife Simone Biles couldn’t contain herself when seeing the safety rush toward the end zone

Team USA Olympic gymnast Simone Biles claimed that she “almost had a heart attack” when her husband Jonathan Owens scored an unlikely touchdown for the Chicago Bears on Sunday.

Biles, 27, reposted a clip from NBC Sports which showed Owens, 29, scoring a defensive touchdown on his debut for the Bears. The video posted by NBC mentioned Biles in the caption as they asked the Olympic hero how she felt. Biles responded by saying: “I ALMOST HAD A HEART ATTACK.”

Owens’ touchdown changed the entire game as the Bears were losing 17-3 against the Tennessee Titans at the time. The Titans saw their punt in the third quarter blocked by the Bears, and Owens scooped up the ball and rushed to the end zone.

The momentum flipped and the Bears gained control of the game, with the offense scoring another 14 unanswered points to win 24-17. It was a great start for the Bears who had a shaky start under No. 1 pick Caleb Williams, but the quarterback composed himself in the second half and picked up an important win.

It was just the second touchdown of Owens’ career, after scoring his first for the Green Bay Packers last season. Owens is now in his seventh NFL season but it’s only the third year he’s become a starter, after struggling for minutes at former franchises such as the Arizona Cardinals and Houston Texans.

It was Biles’ turn to spectate after Owens supported her during the Paris Olympics. The NFL player was granted clearance to miss one normal practice session, a walkthrough, and the Hall of Fame Game against the Texans in August to fly to Paris and support his wife.

Biles ended up winning three gold medals in Paris after winning the women’s artistic individual all-around, women’s artistic team all-around, and women’s vault·artistic gymnastics. It was Bears head coach Matt Eberflus that allowed Owens to travel, and he’s since been rewarded with a huge play by Owens in Week 1.

When asked by reporters why Owens had departed camp at a crucial stage of preseason, Eberflus said: “Just because we respect the Olympics. That is a big deal. And he’s just supporting the one he loves the most.

“And I think that’s so cool that he gets to do that. We welcome that and it’s gonna be awesome. Go USA.” Biles had a huge party of family and friends travel to support her, and they all witnessed her clinch a seventh-career Olympic gold medal.

Owens will now lock in for the season and look to assist the Bears as they push for the playoffs, after making several big moves in the offseason. Aside from drafting Williams and wide receiver Rome Odunze, they also acquired Keenan Allen, Gerald Everett, and D’Andre Swift.
