Rapper Shaboozey’s chart-topping hit “A Bar Song” will break a chart record for a single artist on Nov. 16 if it remains number one on Billboard’s Hot 100.

Shaboozey Sets a Billboard First

Shaboozey’s hit country single has held the number one spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart for the 16th week. However, if the song remains at number one by week 17, it will become the second single in chart history to do so, Billboard reported.

The song reclaimed its top spot this week, after country singer Morgan Wallen’s song, “Love Somebody,” took the number one spot when released on Oct. 18, Billboard reported last month.

In reaching the 16th-week mark, Shaboozey’s song ties with Wallen’s 2023 song “Last Night” for the longest reign on the chart this decade, Billboard reported.

“A Bar Song” is a country and hip hop song that features lyrics from rapper J-Kwon’s 2004 hit “Tipsy,” CBS News reported.

If the song continues at number one for week 17, it will be the longest run for a song with only one credited artist.

CBS News reported that Shaboozey, born Collins Obinna Chibueze, was raised in Woodbridge, Virginia, as the son of Nigerian immigrants.

Known for blending country and hip hop in his music, Shaboozey has had a successful year, including being featured twice on international superstar Beyonce’s debut country album “Cowboy Carter,” released in March.

He also made Time’s 100 Next List of people on the rise in their fields and has been nominated for two Country Music Association Awards – one for New Artist of the Year and the other for Single of the Year, CBS News reported.

The 58th annual CMA Awards at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, will air on Wednesday, Nov. 20, on ABC and Hulu.
