Riley Green, Zach Top, and Cody Johnson Join Fellow Country Stars in Raising Money for Police Wounded in California Wildfires
Firefighters are still struggling to contain multiple wildfires in southern California, four days after the flames first erupted. Hundreds of thousands have seen their entire lives leveled, including R&B singer Jhené Aiko and Primus guitarist Larry “Ler” LaLonde. As residents flee the destruction en masse, country stars like Riley Green, Zach Top and Cody Johnson are thinking of those instead running straight toward it. Some of country music’s biggest names are raising money to support police officers who have been injured in the Los Angeles-area wildfires.
Riley Green And Others Team Up With Las Vegas Nonprofit
The Wounded Blue is a nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of injured and disabled law enforcement officers. The Las Vegas-based nonprofit has teamed up with many in the country music industry to provide aid to police officers battling the California wildfires.
Riley Green, Cody Johnson, and Zach Top are just some of the country artists signing Epiphone acoustic guitars to assist in fundraising efforts. Others include Ronnie Dunn, Travis Tritt, Martina McBride, Jon Pardi, Jamey Johnson, Neal McCoy, and more.
You can purchase a guitar for $1,000, with proceeds supporting injured or disabled law enforcement from the California wildfires.
This isn’t the organization’s first time partnering with country music artists. Back in December 2023, stars like George Strait, Toby Keith, and Reba McEntire also signed guitars for fundraising efforts.
Other Country Stars Are Stepping Up
Riley Green, Zach Top and Cody Johnson aren’t the only country stars stepping up to aid California wildfire recovery efforts. Miranda Lambert’s philanthropic organization, MuttNation, recently announced its annual Relief for Rescues fundraising event.
Between January 12 and 22, fans can either donate money straight to the cause or at any Tractor Supply location across the country. You can also donate online at Tractor Supply’s website.
According to Cal Fire, the wildfires had burned nearly 40,000 acres as of Saturday (Jan. 11), claiming seven lives and destroying upwards of 12,000 structures. Fires in the Pacific Palisades and Altadena areas are 11 and 15 percent contained, respectively.
