Kayla Nicole touches on her falling out Brittany Mahomes after Travis Kelce started dating Taylor Swift.
During the Kansas City Chiefs’ win over the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football, Taylor Swift was at Arrowhead Stadium cheering for the team. Ever since the singer started dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, she’s been a fixture at games.
Over the past year, Swift has also built a close friendship with Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ wife, Brittany Mahomes, 29. However, before pop star entered Kelce’s life, Brittany was incredibly tight with his ex-girlfriend, Kayla Nicole.
Nicole and Kelce dated on and off for five years before officially calling it quits in 2022. During their relationship, Nicole attended Brittany’s bachelorette weekend getaway and served as bridesmaid at the quarterback’s wedding.
During an appearance on Angel Reese’s podcast, “Unapologetically Angel,” the Chicago Sky forward asked the 32-year-old influencer if she remained friends with the WAGs after splitting with Kelce, and her answer immediately raised some eyebrows.
During the interview, Nicole said the hardest thing about a breakup is that you not only lose your best friend, but also “their family and their friends, and that’s a huge challenge.”
As for the WAGs, “Yes, yes. I was, I was,” Nicole said, laughing through the discomfort. Reese clarified, ‘No, not friends anymore?’
The Pepperdine alum said, “I feel so calm and comfortable and then it is like (clap). Yeah, we were cool. We were cool [but] we are not as cool as we once were. That was like family.”
While Nicole remained friendly with Brittany after her breakup with the All-Pro, even attending her surprise birthday party in August of last year, she unfollowed the soon-to-be mother of three shortly after Kelce and Swift’s relationship became public.
At the time, Nicole explained that it wasn’t personal. She told People in October 2023, “That’s a lot of history and friendship there, that doesn’t change overnight. But publicly, because things are happening so quickly and so publicly, I have to protect myself. That’s really all that is. The love is still there.”
