Wife Brittany’s Rejection Forced Patrick Mahomes to Do ‘Cutest Thing’ to Win Over High School Sweetheart
Not all love stories have the feeling of love at first sight. Some might have a little feeling of unexpectedness about them. And that is what Patrick Mahomes and Brittany’s story tells us.
Back in high school, the Chiefs’ star QB made the first move on his now-wife. Well, the teenage Pat had a crush on Brittany, so he had to. But it was not just the usual first move.
Speaking on the Whoop‘s latest Podcast with founder Will Ahmed, on August 28th, Brittany Mahomes said that it was Patrick who made the first move because she wasn’t really into the dating scene back then.
However, Pat brought out his cuter side on display. “One day at lunch, because we sat at the same table every day, he was trying to be corny and wrote me a Valentine’s letter and brought me a rose. It was so cute, and I thought it was the cutest thing ever.” Brittany smiled as she reminisced about the details of how she got asked out.
The best signal-caller might not be the best at asking out, but most certainly he worked his way around and that’s what matters. Brittany said that although he was doing it sarcastically, she liked it as he was being sweet. And that was the spark needed to light the fire to start a family that is now 4 strong, 5th’s on the way.
Meanwhile, when asked if that was ‘The’ moment she knew the relationship was going to go the distance, Brittany’s reply was a no. Not that straightforward. But yeah, she did not know. Why? “Because we were 16 and not thinking about the future. He was a sophomore, I was a junior, and we were just in high school. We didn’t think it would turn into this, but I’m really glad it did. We’re really enjoying life together.”
Not just enjoying life together, but Brittany also played the role of a ‘lover’ in Pat’s nastiest superstition. She gifted him red underwear in 2018, his first season as QB1 for KC, and that led him to feel like a Superman.
So much so that he did not remove it, and kept on winning games. We are sure that even Superman did not feel this lucky in his pair of reds. But more so, it was the fact that Brittany had gifted him so he felt lucky. That’s pure love.
However, it was not that easy. There’s a reason every time Patrick Mahomes and Brittany look at each other, they are still able to sing this verse from Taylor Swift’s famous song “So High School”: ‘I feel so high school every time I look at you’. And guess what? It’s not the fame/the celebrity status. But growing together has made their bond stronger with time.
What is Patrick Mahomes’ advice for Brittany?
“We got thrown into the fire together, and that’s helped us do well in life.” Brittany put it beautifully on the podcast explaining how the transition from being the teenage romantics to a celebrity couple affected her and Patrick Mahomes. But let’s just say that the Chiefs’ number 15 stepped into the limelight, prepped all ready to take it head-on.
The former women’s soccer player said, “He’s better at it than I am, maybe because his dad played professional sports, so he understood it more. Having him beside me to guide me and coach me through has helped a ton.” Facing 300-pound guys on the gridiron toughens you up.
But what also toughened Pat up was the fact that he grew up as a Mahomes. With the spotlight squared on the family since Pat Sr. stepped on the diamond tells you that, ‘Okay, Pat Jr. at least knew how to deal with the cameras flashing.’
However, with all the latest social media trials that Brittany got into, by liking and sharing pro-Donald Trump posts. She needs to take Patrick’s advice as her holy grail. The advice? Yes! And let us tell you that it fits really well in her current scenario. “The main thing he always told me is to stop caring about what people think, especially those who don’t know you. Social media used to get to me, but now I honestly don’t give a F—- what people have to say anymore.” Let’s hope she is not letting it get to her. Because if she let it, then it would get to her and Patrick as well.
However, one thing’s for sure. No matter what befalls these two, their vow stands stronger than the test of time. And as they look ahead to the future, they must go in with the mantra, “This too shall pass.”
