Miranda Lambert Giving Up Booze, Why?

Miranda Lambert famously sang that she was drunk and didn’t want to go home. So why is she giving up booze now? Keep reading for all the details on the surprising development.

Alcohol Is A Huge Part Of Some Of Miranda Lambert’s Biggest Hits

In her 20+ year music career, Miranda Lambert hasn’t been shy about her love of alcohol. Some of her biggest hits are about getting drunk, including her song with Elle King, “Drunk (And I Don’t Wanna Go Home.)”

Her new album, Postcards from Texas, has a song about drinking, too. “Does the whiskey make you miss me?/’Cause every time I take a sip, I think about you,” she sings on “B*tch On The Sauce (Just Drunk.)”

Miranda Lambert took home the Country Icon award at this year’s People’s Choice Country Awards. She referenced the importance of booze in her speech. “It’s a lot of years, beers, tears and Tito’s, if I’m being honest,” she confessed. But now it seems her drinking days are done. Why?

Sober living is a growing trend that’s found its way to country music. Lady A singer Charles Kelley has been sober since 2022. Rascal Flatts announced a 2025 reunion tour after Joe Don Rooney’s 2021 DUI arrest that ultimately ended the band.

But a struggle with addiction isn’t why Miranda Lambert wants to stop boozing. According to In Touch, she wants to start a family with her husband, Brendan McLoughlin. The couple married in 2019 after quietly dating for three months. Their relationship hit a hurdle earlier this year when he was spotted out with another woman. But they worked it out.

“She really wants to be a mom, but some favorite pastimes have got to go and that’s the problem,” a source close to the singer told In Touch. The insider revealed that Miranda Lambert is open to using surrogacy to conceive the baby but wants to try the natural route first. But that means cutting down on the drinking.

According to the spy, the “Kerosene” singer has banned alcohol from the home she shares with her husband. “She doesn’t want booze in the house and that means her hubby, Brendan, can’t drink either, so they’re both feeling the drought,” the source claimed.

Miranda Lambert has yet to publicly address speculation that she’s trying to have kids with her husband. But if it’s true, do you think quitting booze is the right move? Sound off in the comments.
