Listen: Morgan Wallen Resurfaces, Gift Fans a “Rough Demo” of New Breakup Anthem for Christmas
While a top name in country music, Morgan Wallen grew up with a love for other genres. Throughout his childhood, the country star listened to bands like Breaking Benjamin, Nickelback, and even Lil Wayne. Eventually finding his way to country music, the singer released albums like If I Know Me and One Thing at a Time. Not releasing a new album in 2024, Wallen appeared to prepare for the new year as she dropped a teaser of a new song he worked on.
On Monday, Wallen, who had been relatively quiet for the past six months beyond a tour recap post one week ago—notably skipping out on the CMA Awards—decided to jump on Instagram to tease some new tunes. Wallen’s post was quick to the punch, not even sharing a picture of himself. Only uploading a piece of his new song, Wallen wrote, “Rough demo verse chorus of a song we wrote the other day. I do believe I like it.”
Centered around a breakup, Wallen used the verse to describe what life was like without his love. “Everything’s still pretty much the same ’round here/Neighbor’s still shootin’ all of next years deer/The boy’s still lose but their playin’ at home/But I got better since you got gone/Still a few too many on a Friday night/Still try to step in when it ain’t my fight.”
Fans Ready For New Music As Morgan Wallen Moves Past Legal Troubles
Gaining nearly 400,000 likes, fans gushed over the idea of new songs from Wallen. Looking at the comments, fans wrote, “Morgan Wallen is the only one who can pull off makin’ bossanova country as sh*t! This will blow the roof!” Another person added, “I do believe I love it!!! The best birthday present ( January 22) would be an album drop… We been impatiently waiting!!! We all goin crazy in our Morgan drought!”
Although dealing with legal troubles after tossing a chair from the roof of a bar, Wallen looked to put the incident behind him and get back to country music. While the singer didn’t release a new album in 2024, he did hit the road with his One Night at a Time World Tour. Spanning over 2023 and 2024, the tour featured Wallen and other stars like Parker McCollum, Bailey Zimmerman, and Hardy.
