Morgan Wallen on Verge of Country History After Scoring First No. 1 Debut as a Solo Artist

Morgan Wallen Pledged $500K to Black-Led Groups. Where'd It Go?

Ever since Morgan Wallen entered the country music scene a decade ago, he has only continued to top himself. His debut album, If I Know Me, reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The East Tennessee-born artist’s subsequent records, 2021’s Dangerous: The Double Album and 2023’s One Thing at a Time, each held the same spot for record-breaking amounts of time. Now, Wallen has reached yet another milestone with his latest release, “Love Somebody.”

Morgan Wallen Now Has the Second-Most No. 1 Hits of Any Country Artist

In May 2024, Morgan Wallen got fans talking when he shared a snippet of “Love Somebody” to his Instagram page. And five months later, the song has already reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Streaming Songs chart.

“Love Somebody” notched 31.1 million official U.S. streams during the week ending Oct. 24, according to Luminate.

This marks Wallen’s first-ever No. 1 debut as a lead act, according to Billboard. He achieved that milestone earlier this year with the Post Malone collab “I Had Some Help.”

Additionally, “Love Somebody” becomes the seven-time 2024 CMA nominee’s third overall and first solo hit to debut atop the Billboard Hot 100. The Entertainer of the Year hopeful is now just one hit away from tying for the most No. 1 hits among country artists.

Passing Up Taylor Swift

On top of that, “Love Somebody” makes Morgan Wallen’s third single to top both the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot Country Songs charts. With this, he eclipses Glen Campbell, John Denver, Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers and Taylor Swift—all with two each.

“Love Somebody” follows “Lies, Lies, Lies” as the second single off Morgan Wallen’s upcoming fourth album.
