Miley Cyrus being sued for allegedly copying Bruno Mars’ hit song for her own record Flowers

Miley Cyrus is being sued for copyright infringement after she allegedly copied a hit Bruno Mars song for her chart-topping song Flowers.

Documents obtained by TMZ reveal that Tempo Music Investments accuse the Disney Channel star’s song Flowers of having “many musical similarities” to Bruno’s 2012 slow jam When I Was Your Man. Tempo Music Investments, the company claiming to own Bruno’s record, allege that the chorus, harmony, melody, chord progressions and lyrics of Flowers had been “intentionally” stolen from the Die With A Smile singer’s smash hit. Bruno isn’t named as a plaintiff in the court filing.

Flowers earned Miley her first Grammy award. At this year’s ceremony, Flowers won for record of the year and for best pop solo performance, beating out Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish.

“This award is amazing, but I really hope that it doesn’t change anything, because my life was beautiful yesterday,” Miley said during her record of the year acceptance speech. “Not everyone in the world will get a Grammy, but everyone in this world is spectacular, so please don’t think that this is important.” It’s rumored that the former Hannah Montana star had written Flowers about her movie star ex-husband Liam Hemsworth, who she was married to from 2018 to 2020.

Despite being in the industry for decades, this was the first year Miley was recognized by the Recording Academy. She addressed that fact in an interview with W Magazine in June.

“No shade, but I’ve been doing this for 20 years, and this is my first time actually being taken seriously at the Grammys?” she told the news outlet. “I’ve had a hard time figuring out what the measurement is there, because if we want to talk stats and numbers, then where the f— was I? And if you want to talk, like, impact on culture, then where the f— was I?”

However, she noted: “This is not about arrogance. I am proud of myself.” The Mirror US has approached representatives for Bruno Mars and Miley Cyrus for comment but have yet to hear anything back yet. Not only is Miley hot in music, but she’s also hot on the fashion scene. Miley stripped down for promo photos for the high-fashion brand Gucci in July. She shared a couple of photos of herself sporting a sheer black bra, which had lace trim, and panty set that paraded her fit petite figure on her Instagram account.

A chunky gold necklace was wrapped around her neck, contrasting nicely with the black. In one photo, Miley had on black sunglasses, and in the other, she didn’t, but for both she held a bottle of the Gucci Beauty Flora Gorgeous Orchid perfume she was advertising.
