Maren Morris Makes Huge Career Move

Maren Morris announced in September 2023 that she was leaving country music after feuding with Jason Aldean’s wife and Morgan Wallen fans. She ultimately backed off the declaration, but the “My Church” singer did go outside her comfort zone with a new career milestone.

E News! caught up with the country singer at the Toronto Film Festival earlier this month. No, she isn’t venturing into acting, though she didn’t completely shut down that possibility for the future. She prefers to stick to songwriting and performing for now.

She wrote and recorded a song for the animated movie The Wild Robot. The Dreamworks movie stars Star Wars icon Mark Hamill, Catherine O’Hara, and Lupita Nyong’o. Maren Morris told the outlet that the movie is for more than just kids. “No matter the age group, I think you’ll be either laughing or crying or both.”

Maren Morris & Ex-Husband Spend Quality Time Together

Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd reached a divorce settlement quickly and privately, unlike some other famous couples recently. She filed for divorce in October 2023 and it was finalized in January 2024. They share joint custody of their 4-year-old son, Hayes.

Their son was the target of death threats after Maren Morris called Morgan Wallen out for using a racial slur in 2021. The “80s Mercedes” singer was recently spotted on a date with a Netflix reality star. Her split from Ryan Hurd never got messy, and the two seem to get along well.

Their co-parenting skills were on display recently when they cheered Hayes on during his sports game. Maren Morris took to social media to share a rare selfie with her ex-husband. “Parents of a future Federer,” she wrote, referencing Tennis pro Roger Federer.

The former couple were friends for years before their relationship turned romantic. They met in 2013 in a songwriting session for Tim McGraw’s hit song “Last Turn Home.” They remained friends for years before marrying in 2018. They welcomed Hayes in 2020.

By 2023, the marriage was over. They’ve kept the details of what led to the decision to divorce private.
