During an appearance on the “Zach Sang Show,” Tomlinson revealed that he and the former One Direction member have not made up since their falling out nearly 10 years ago.
When asked if he was still friends with the “Pillowtalk” singer, Tomlinson replied: “You’d have to ask him.”
“I could be wrong, but I believe I said, when you asked me a similar question [last time]… I believe I said that I don’t think I’m mature enough to get past the things that disappointed me in that relationship,” the 31-year-old continued.

Back in 2015, the pair got into a heated argument on Twitter after Malik left One Direction.
Although Tomlinson claims he has “tried to get in touch” with Malik, the pair have seemingly not spoken since the very public spat — even though it was his mom’s dying wish.
“There’s been numerous times over the last couple of years where I’ve thought about him and hoped he’s alright,” the “Bigger Than Me” singer continued.
“But it’s hard,” he said. “I definitely wish him well.”

Even amidst their disagreements, Tomlinson hopes they can mend their relationship one day.
“I think in time,” he said. “I think we just have to bump into each other ’cause neither of us have each other’s number. I suppose maybe social media might be the way.”
Fans suspected Tomlinson was offering an olive branch to Malik, over the past couple of months by liking some of his singing videos on Instagram.

Malik, who has been outspoken about his distaste for the music he made during his One Direction days, has been recently sharing covers of the boyband’s hit songs on his Instagram.
When asked about liking the videos online, Tomlinson applauded Malik’s talent, saying he is a “different caliber in terms of singers.”
“I wasn’t just liking it for the sake of liking it. It was a nice feeling ’cause in the past he’s said what he’s said about the band, and I understand some of what he was saying,” Tomlinson told host Zach Sang.
“For me, in those videos, it showed he was reflecting. It showed he was thinking about those times. Of course, at the same time, showing off his incredible voice.”
