‘Harry always fits the mould’: Louis Tomlinson admits he’s ‘jealous’ of Styles’ solo success
Louis Tomlinson has admitted he was jealous of Harry Styles’ solo success after One Direction split.
The pair were bandmates who first rose to fame on The X Factor in 2010 and went on to become one of the most successful boy bands of all time.
After splitting up in 2016, they all pursued solo careers but Harry saw a meteoric rise to fame, releasing three chart-topping albums and winning three Grammys.
Louis told The Times: ‘Well, that’s no surprise, is it? We’ve always known that Harry fits that mould, and that’s a great thing to see.’

He continued: ‘Jealous? Maybe at first, when I was trying to find my place, but comparing your success to others is never healthy, is it? These days, I’m learning to lift myself up when I need to. I didn’t know how to do it before, but now? Now I know I can do it.’
Louis, Harry, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Liam Payne shot to international attention during their time in One Direction.
Zayn left the group in early 2015 while the remaining four released another album – Made In The AM – before each went their separate ways, and Louis admitted he was “disappointed” and “bitter” about the split.
‘I would be surprised if we lived our whole lives without a reunion moment, or whatever you want to call it. I would be okay with that.’
Last year, Louis said it “would be a shame” if the band members never reunited.
