Lamar Jackson has already won two NFL MVPs, but he is currently having the best season of his NFL career. The world knows how talented of a runner Lamar is from the quarterback position, but it has been improvement as a passer that is turning heads.

Through seven games, Lamar ranks first or second amongst QBs in the following categories:

– Passing TDs (15)

– TD-to-INT ratio (15-2)

– Yards/Pass Attempt (9.1)

– Passer Rating (118.0)

– Rushing Yards (455)

Lamar also ranks fifth in passing yards (1,810) and seventh in completion percentage (68.2%). While Derrick Henry deserves a handful of credit for the Baltimore Ravens early season success, it has been Lamar’s stellar play that has the Ravens atop the AFC North with a record of 5-2. And Lamar made NFL history during a decisive 41-31 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on ‘Monday Night Football’.

Lamar Jackson became the first QB in NFL history to have four games with at least five passing TDs and five or fewer incompletions. He finished Monday night’s game with 281 yards passing and five touchdowns, completing 17 of 21 passes. Previously, Lamar was tied with Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, and Ben Roethlisberger, whom all had three such games in their careers. That is elite company right there.

If this piece of NFL history isn’t enough, Lamar also became the first QB since Steve Young to lead the league in passer rating and rushing yards through Week 7.

Throughout his career, Lamar has consistently been criticized as a passer, as many have seen him as just a running QB. But through seven games so far this season, it appears Lamar has (temporarily) silenced those critics with his stellar passing. In turn, Lamar also seems to be living up to his five-year, $260 million contract.
