Harry Styles lookalike contest to take place in London this weekend
The doppelgänger contest is the latest in a string of similar events dedicated to actors Timothée Chalamet and Paul Mescal
Fans of Harry Styles are holding a lookalike contest in London this weekend, with hopes that the Grammy Award-winning singer will show up himself.
Offering cash prizes for first-, second- and third-place entrants who resemble the former One Direction star closely, the contest will be held in Soho Square at 1pm on Saturday, November 9.
The competition comes after a similar lookalike contest in New York dedicated to Wonka actor Timothée Chalamet sparked pandemonium last month, with the actor showing up to meet his doppelgängers.
Police were in attendance to disperse crowds and there was one arrest, with the organisers behind the event given a $500 (£385) fine for holding an “unpermitted costume contest”.
Styles and Chalamet aren’t the only celebrity subjects to have sparked lookalike contests lately. Another one is being held by fans of Irish actor Paul Mescal today in Dublin in hopes of recreating the viral Chalamet event.
A video posted to TikTok by @paulmescallookalike shows a flyer advertising the competition, which is being held in the city’s Smithfield Square at 1pm. The prize is “3 pints or €20” (nearly £17). The video has already accumulated 285k views. Mescal himself will be in the Smithfield area tonight for the Irish premiere of his new film Gladiator II, so the crowds attending will likely be hoping for appearance from the 28-year-old actor.
There’s no word on whether Styles himself will attend his lookalike contest on Saturday… yet.
