Keith Urban Was Stumped By Something Luke Combs’ Wife Said To Him: “Never Heard Anyone Say That Before”
Keith Urban recently recalled a funny coincidence involving a particularly cheesy dad joke he likes to tell and Luke Combs’ wife, Nicole Hocking Combs. While speaking with CMT, he was prompted to share the take of something Nicole Hocking told him backstage that completely stumped him.
“It was so weird, I went backstage, I was on my own and I went backstage. [Luke Combs] said, ‘This is my wife, Nicole,’” Urban began, setting the scene. He then explained, “Every time I meet someone called Nicole, I jokingly go, ‘Oh, we just met, and I got you tattooed on my arm.’”
That’s in reference to, of course, Urban’s movie star wife Nicole Kidman. However, what Nicole Hocking said next is what really threw Keith Urban for a loop.
“She goes, ‘Actually, I was named after her,’” he said. “I was like, ‘I have never heard anybody say that before.’” He then added, “Yeah, she’s named after my wife.” Since Nicole Hocking was born in 1992, Nicole Kidman’s breakout role in the 1990 film Days of Thunder may have inspired her parents to christen her with the same name. There’s also the possibility that it was the romantic Western Far and Away that did it; that movie came out in May 1992, while Nicole was born that July.
