The Kansas City Chiefs advanced to 4-0 on the season following a 17-10 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 4.

While the victory called for a celebration from the Chiefs, their focus was on injured wide receiver Rashee Rice after the game.

Rice was carted off the field in the first quarter and did not return to the game after being evaluated. The wide receiver was involved in a collision with Patrick Mahomes and a few Chargers players after the Chiefs quarterback threw an interception.

Following the win for the Chiefs, head coach Andy Reid sent said he feels “terrible” for Rice.

Reid said that Rice will have an MRI on Monday. While he mentioned that he will “hope for the best,” Reid also said that he’s not expecting positive news, per ESPN’s Lindsey Thiry.

Rice has been a major part of the Chiefs’ offense since he was selected in the second round of the 2023 NFL draft.

In his rookie season, 2023, Rice was able to make an immediate impact on the Super Bowl champions. He finished the 2023 season with seven touchdowns on 79 receptions and 938 yards.

So far this year, Rice has posted two touchdowns on 24 receptions and 288 yards.

Rice was cementing himself as the clear-cut No. 1 wide receiver on the Chiefs’ roster, especially with the lessened production of Travis Kelce this season.

Kansas City will await the final injury designation on Rice, but if they were to lose the young receiver for ample time, Kelce will need to step up in his place.

Through four games this season, Kelce has recorded 15 receptions and 158 yards.
