Amanda Balionis has announced she will be signing off from the NFL and returning to golf following a six-month break from the sport.

The popular CBS reporter, who is acclaimed for her insightful coverage on the PGA Tour since becoming part of the network in 2017, had made the temporary switch from the courses to the touchlines back in the summer.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, things went remarkably well for the 39-year-old, who only further established herself as one of the more prominent figures in sports reporting throughout her time covering the NFL, becoming a familiar face on TV screens across the US throughout the season.

As the regular season wrapped up this weekend, however, Balionis took to Instagram to announce she would be returning to golf, posting a photo with her laptop set against the backdrop of an NFL game on TV from a hotel room in Nashville, Tennessee.

“How is week 18 here already?! This season has flown by. One more game then it’s back to golf we go!,” Balionis wrote, drawing anticipation and excitement from her followers for her return to the green.

Balionis had officially stepped away from golf coverage following the conclusion of the 2024 season with CBS Sports, announcing her intention to shift focus to the NFL for the remainder of the year.

“That’s officially a wrap on the 2024 @golfoncbs season! ,” she shared in an Instagram reel filled with behind-the-scenes snapshots and interviews with top athletes back in August.

She reflected: “This year had it all. From historic moments to heart-shattering events and every other emotion, you can imagine in between. I love this game. I love working in sports. Competing at the highest level requires and produces constant examples of inspiration, drama, unbridled joy, resilience, growth, and teamwork.”

“It’s an honor to be a very small part of a tremendous team that brings these moments and stories to life each weekend,” she added. “If we left you with one new favorite player or one memorable moment you shared with loved ones then we have done our jobs. Catch ya on the NFL sidelines until next season! “.

Balionis’ seamless transition from the PGA Tour to the NFL only further showcased her adaptability as a sports reporter, where she more than found her groove within the NFL media circle, suggesting she may one day return.
