The injury to Kansas City Chiefs WR Rashee Rice led to chatter about a potential Davante Adams trade.

The Kansas City Chiefs have a need at wide receiver following Rashee Rice’s injury, and the Las Vegas Raiders have a disgruntled star pass-catcher seeking a new home.

On the surface, the Chiefs would make a lot of sense as a suitor for Davante Adams, but things are never quite that simple. As appealing as the idea of watching Patrick Mahomes throw to Adams is, it always felt unlikely the Raiders would consider sending the six-time Pro Bowler to their biggest rival.

Before the Chiefs’ 26-13 Monday Night Football victory over the New Orleans Saints, NFL insider Adam Schefter broke down the latest trade buzz surrounding Adams.

Schefter offered an extremely blunt comment on a possible Chiefs deal to acquire Adams, and it seems Kansas City will need to look elsewhere to address their need.

“A lot of people have wondered whether Adams would wind up in Kansas City — that’s not gonna happen,” Schefter stated.

Schefter highlighted the two teams that have been prominent since Adams requested a trade as the likely landing spots: the Saints and the New York Jets. He said the Saints and Raiders have spoken but that there “hasn’t been a lot of progress,” as Las Vegas is seeking “a second-round pick, plus, plus” for Adams.
