Taking to Instagram on Sunday, December 29, the 39-year-old Wonder Woman star announced that she was diagnosed with a “massive blood clot” in her brain during the eighth month of her pregnancy with her fourth child, whom she shares with her husband, Jaron Varsano.

“For weeks, I had endured excruciating headaches that confined me to bed, until I finally underwent an MRI that revealed the terrifying truth,” Gadot shared. “In one moment, my family and I were faced with how fragile life can be. It was a stark reminder of how quickly everything can change, and in the midst of a difficult year, all I wanted was to hold on and live.”

The Hollywood icon went on to explain that she was rushed to the hospital where she underwent emergency surgery. During the procedure, she gave birth to her daughter, Ori, who is now 9 months old. “Her name, meaning ‘my light,’ wasn’t chosen by chance,” Gadot admitted. “Before the surgery, I told Jaron that when our daughter arrived, she would be the light waiting for me at the end of this tunnel.”

Thankfully, the Red Notice actress is now fully healed and focused on raising awareness about health and self-care. “Pain, discomfort, or even subtle changes often carry a deeper meaning, and being attuned to your body can be life-saving,” she wrote, encouraging her followers to prioritize their health.

Wrapping up her post, Gadot shared an eye-opening statistic: “I had no idea that 3 in 100,000 pregnant women in the 30s+ age group are diagnosed with CVT (a blood clot in the brain).” She emphasized the importance of early detection, explaining, “It’s so important to identify early because it’s treatable.”

While acknowledging how rare the condition is, she added, “Knowing it exists is the first step to addressing it. Sharing this is not meant to frighten anyone but to empower. If even one person feels compelled to take action for their health because of this story, it will have been worth sharing.”

After the post hit social media, it didn’t take long for fans to flood the comments section with messages of support.

“This is an incredible story to share. Thank you for deciding to share it. And thank goodness you are okay,” one person wrote.

“Holy sh*t you really are Wonder Woman!!! 😮💪🏾❤️” another pointed out.

“So happy you made it through and to the light… Cheers to health, strength, and light,” chimed in a third.

Gadot and Varsano, 49, tied the knot in 2008. In addition to Ori, the couple share daughters Alma, 13, Maya, 7, and Daniella, 3.
