No Doubt Songs Make Gwen Stefani Physically Sick, Why?
Gwen Stefani has had a career in the music industry that has spanned decades. Recently, she said listening to her old songs with No Doubt makes her physically ill. What’s the reason for this?
Gwen Stefani Has Had A Long Career
Most people would consider themselves lucky to have one successful career in the music industry. It’s a notoriously cutthroat business, so, making it big just once is something that most people will never do. In Gwen Stefani’s case, she has had more than one successful crack at it.
Gwen Stefani got her start with No Doubt when the band formed in 1986. They reached their peak in the 90s and carried over into the 2000s. Gwen could have easily stopped there and been set. Instead, she launched a solo career that has been just as successful, if not more.

Surprising Reason No Doubt Songs Make Gwen Stefani Physically Sick
It’s natural for an artist to cringe when they look back at their old work. A lot of famous writers would throw many of their first books in the trash if it were completely up to them. No Doubt may have a special, sentimental place in Gwen’s heart, but, according to her, she gets physically sick whenever she listens to any of her band’s old music.
Gwen Stefani recently said in an interview: “I can’t listen to a lot of the songs because they speak so clearly to me. And it’s like, you know, you have regrets, you have mistakes you’ve made. And most of the songs are about that.”
Stefani famously tweaked the iconic No Doubt song Don’t Speak, turning it into a gut-wrenching breakup song when things didn’t work out with No Doubt bassist Tony Kanal. So, it certainly makes sense why Stefani doesn’t like to listen to her old stuff.
Songs like Ex-Girlfriend bring her right back to the place she was when she wrote it. The feelings are so strong and so present that listening to that song makes Gwen Stefani “almost throw up” in her mouth, even when just speaking of it.

Will Gwen Feel The Same About Her Songs With Blake Shelton?
With Stefani not being able to even listen to her old material with No Doubt, it’s worth asking if she will feel the same about the songs she wrote with Blake Shelton in the next 15-20 years.
