Joe Jonas Still Holds a ‘Huge Grudge’ Against Ex Wife Sophie Turner: He’s Never ‘Truly Forgiven Her’
Joe Jonas and ex wife Sophie Turner have been keeping things civil between them lately, but even though they’ve put past hostilities aside, a source exclusively tells Life & Style that the once-couple can’t escape how extremely awkward it is whenever they do meet face to face.
The exes are bound to run into each other now and again, as “a lot of their social networks overlap and they still have shared friends,” the insider says, adding “The celebrity cool kids crowd is very small, so it’s not as though Joe can expect people to take his side and ice Sophie out.”
The two got together as a result of mutual friends, having been first romantically linked at a Halloween party in 2016. They went Instagram official in 2017 and were keen to chronicle their relationship very publicly, which meant lots of events with other celebs.
The former Disney star, 35, and the Game of Thrones alum, 28, tied the knot in May 2019 after a nearly year and a half long engagement. Sophie gave birth to their first daughter, Willa, in July 2020, then baby No. 2, a girl, in July 2022. It wasn’t until 2023 that things began to fall apart for the couple as they encountered a “rough patch” – but their relationship was about to get much nastier.

Joe filed for divorce from his then-wife in September of that year. Reportedly, his divorce docs detailed their marriage was “irretrievably broken.” The Jonas Brothers musician also asked for joint custody of their two daughters.
Sophie then alleged Joe was keeping their children from going to the U.K. and refusing to hand over their passports, according to court documents. Joe was “livid” according to In Touch, but the kids ultimately wound up back in NYC as per a judge’s ruling.
“I’m going through a legal process right now where I can’t really say much, but it was incredibly sad,” the actress told Harper’s Bazaar in an October 30 interview. “We had a beautiful relationship, and it was hard.”
Both have since moved on, but the feud was so brutal they’re still not comfortable running into each other here and there, as the source says they’re bound to do in Hollywood. However, “now that she’s dating Perry [Pearson], Joe’s got even more reason to stay on her good side. He loves hanging out at the Chiltern Firehouse in London, which is really Sophie and Perry’s territory, and other private members clubs, so it’s not going to serve him well to keep the bad blood going.”
“By all accounts Perry is a very protective type, if Joe’s not smart about this he could wind up in a fight he’d probably lose, so he’s very wisely being a lot more cordial with Sophie and has stopped trash talking her.”
“But that doesn’t mean he’s truly forgiven her, he’s still holding a huge grudge and so is she. Most of the time they use their nannies to do the kids’ drop offs, but there are times they see each other and it’s beyond uncomfortable.”
