Gwen Stefani Sends Social Media Into a Frenzy With New Announcement
The Voice viewers were bummed when Gwen Stefani announced she would sit out season 25. However, music fans’ ears perked up, as the former No Doubt frontwoman explained that she was shifting focus to her music career. Now, it seems Gwen fans are getting the best of both worlds. Not only is Stefani returning to The Voice for season 26, but the “Purple Irises” singer recently revealed that new music is coming.
Gwen Stefani Is Dropping a New Single This Week
In a Wednesday (Sept. 18) social media post, Gwen Stefani unveiled the title and release date of her fifth studio album. Bouquet hits the airwaves Nov. 15—and the cover art hints that the “Sweet Escape” singer may be going full country this time.
Fortunately, Stefani’s fans won’t have to wait too long for a taste of new music. The album’s lead single, “Somebody Else’s” drops Friday (Sept. 20) at midnight Eastern.
The 10-song track list also features Stefani’s previously released love song, “Purple Irises,” with her husband Blake Shelton.
Bouquet marks Stefani’s first album since 2016’s This Is What the Truth Feels Like and her 2017 holiday album, You Make It Feel Like Christmas.
Fans Go Crazy For New Music Announcement: “The Actual Best Surprise”
Once word of new music began spreading on social media, ecstatic fans began flooding Gwen Stefani’s X/Twitter page. “The best surprise of the year!” one fan gushed.
Another added, “the actual best suprise!!”
At Coachella this spring, Stefani shared a stage with her former No Doubt bandmates for the first time since 2013. The reunion, coupled with her hiatus from The Voice, sparked rumors that the ska-punk legends might be getting together for more than just one night. However, Stefani shut that buzz down. In an April interview with Nylon, the “Hollaback Girl” singer said that Coachella would be “a really nice bow to tie” on the band’s tenure.
Next Monday (Sept. 23) Stefani returns to her big red chair for her eighth coaching stint on The Voice. She joins fellow coaching veteran Reba McEntire and newcomers Michael Buble and Snoop Dogg.
