28-18 and the outcome remains the same!! The Super Bowl rematch between elite rivals, the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers was fierce as usual.
However, things became heated when Chiefs safety Bryan Cook messed with 49ers OT Trent Willams. After the game, many shared their opinion. One such person was ex-NFLer Chris Long, who blamed Cook for messing with Williams.
In the recent episode of his podcast ‘Green Light’, Long talked about the incident mentioning that Cook shouldn’t have picked up a fight with someone like Williams: “Trent Williams is not the guy pal he is the final boss of not the guy pal if you value your health yeah, I mean that is a scary dude. He’s the big bully. Cook, I don’t know what you’re doing bro I mean, I know you’re a man and everything and everybody’s men out there, but that’s not the one”.
What exactly happened was when Patrick Mahomes and Co were in the final minutes of the game, Cook punched the 11x Pro Bowler’s helmet. To exact revenge, Williams punched back on the Chiefs Safety’s helmet. After this, the 36-year-old OT was ejected from the game. Cook, surprisingly, wasn’t.
As per reports, both Cook and Willams are now facing possible suspension and huge fines from the league. This weekend, the Chiefs are set to face the Las Vegas Raiders while the 49ers lock horns with the Dallas Cowboys. However, losing their starters could be costly for both sides and they would surely be preparing contingencies in case both Willams and Cook get banned for week 8. It now needs to be seen how the NFL decides to deal with it.
Bryan Cook lauds Chiefs’ resilience, acknowledges 49ers to be a formidable opponent
Bryan Cook praised the Chiefs’ resilience following their Super Bowl rematch win against the 49ers. In the post-game interview, he mentioned that even though they currently hold the perfect 6-0 record, there’s still no room for complacency in the Chiefs’ dressing room. Per Cook, “Being undefeated is a beautiful thing, but we can’t let that get to our heads. We know what we’re capable of, but we have to keep pushing”.
The 25-year-old star then went on to say the key factor behind the team’s unparalleled success so far this season is due to their “ability to learn from their mistakes while continuing to win.”
Cook also heaped praises on the opponents, the 49ers. Even though they lost 28-18, the young Chiefs star still referred to the San Fran team as one of KC’s most formidable opponents: “They’re as tough as they come. People may have their doubts, but on the field, we know how strong they are. We’ll be ready if we meet again.”
So far, Cook has featured in six games for the Chiefs. He has 30 total tackles, out of which 24 were solo and six were assisted, along with one interception. While he had a decent start, there is a possibility that it might come to a temporary hold due to him messing around with his opponent.
