Morgan Wallen has been on the road to redemption recently as he attended court for his reckless behavior. An ESPN commentator thought to throw a joke his way, however, live on-air.
The College Football Playoffs have been recently expanded, and the Tennessee Volunteers were playing against the Ohio State Buckeyes. Unfortunately for the Volunteers, the Buckeyes were demolishing them. Pat McAfee and Boston Connor were hosting The Pat McAfee Show over on ESPN2, where Wallen was involved in a tasteless joke.
It was the first quarter, and the Buckeyes were winning 14-0. McAfee said, “They gotta feel hopeless right now,” referencing the Volunteers.
“Yeah it is doom and gloom,” Connor continued, “Would hate to be a Tennessee fan or a chair near Morgan Wallen ’cause they have no hope right now.”
The joke references the time Wallen threw a chair off the roof of a pub in Nashville that landed near two officers. He was arrested at first with three felony counts of reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct.
Through a plea deal when he hit the court recently, however, he’s avoided prison time. Although the joke is good-natured, it’s quite the event to dig up now that he’s trying to leave it all behind him.

Internet Reacts To Live Morgan Wallen ESPN Dig
Most find the joke pretty funny, although others are too disappointed in the game to appreciate the reference.
“Dude that is funny!” laughs one.
“Yes definitely suck to be in front of a drunk Morgan Wallen??,” one exclaims.
“Quote of the night,” aptly puts another.
“Or any female in his drunken, st*pid vicinity,” further digs another, not a fan of the singer.
Some also shared their disappointment of the team under the post.
“It is doom and gloom for 12 team playoff games. All the hype and then puke,” says one disappointed fan.
“God they suck,” condemns another.
“Tennessee didn’t deserve to be in the playoffs,” one harshly believes.
Some fans did come to the defense of Wallen, although they shouldn’t take it too seriously. It was just a light joke.
