Elon Musk has admitted Kamala Harris “exceeded most people’s expectations” during Tuesday night’s presidential debate but criticized hosts ABC News claiming they were not fair to Donald Trump.
The businessman, who is CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, shared his thoughts with his followers on X, formerly called Twitter. While praising the Vice President, Musk said he still believes that “when it comes to getting things done”, Trump would do “a far better job” than Harris.
He wrote: “While I don’t think the debate hosts were fair to @realDonaldTrump, @KamalaHarris exceeded most people’s expectations tonight. That said, when it comes to getting things done, not just saying nice-sounding words, I strongly believe that Trump will do a far better job.

“After all, if Kamala can do great things, why hasn’t she? Biden rarely shows up for work, so she’s basically in charge already. The question comes down to this: do you want current trends to continue for 4 more years or do you want change?”
Many of his followers engaged with the conversation with one pointing out that there wasn’t “enough talk on solving the national debt crisis” to which Musk replied: “Zero. That’s not good.” Political commentator Joey Mannarino replied: “If you like the economy and the border situation for the past four years, you vote Harris. If you don’t like the economy or the border situation, you vote for Trump. It’s pretty much that simple.”
Musk’s criticism of ABC News was also repeated by one of his followers who tweeted: “The biggest loser in the debate was ABC News.” Musk agreed to the statement, simply replying with an emoji which means “100 per cent”. But not everyone agreed that the host was unfair as one wrote: “Why was it unfair? Because he corrected Trump when he said that illegal immigrants eats dogs and cats?”
The tech entrepreneur, who has been proactively supporting Trump in the upcoming election, also mocked pop icon Taylor Swift after she voiced her support for Harris in a post shared once the debate was over. The superstar shared a photo of herself holding a cat – a reference to Trump’s running mate J.D. Vance’s “childless cat lady” comments – and wrote in the caption: “Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight. If you haven’t already, now is a great time to do your research on the issues at hand and the stances these candidates take on the topics that matter to you the most.”
She added: “As a voter, I make sure to watch and read everything I can about their proposed policies and plans for this country. I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them.
“I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos. I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate @timwalz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades.”

Taylor concluded her post with: “I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice. Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make. I also want to say, especially to first time voters: Remember that in order to vote, you have to be registered! I also find it’s much easier to vote early. I’ll link where to register and find early voting dates and info in my story.” She signed her statement “with love and hope, Taylor Swift, Childless Cat Lady,” mocking offensive comments that JD Vance made in 2021 when he said “childless cat ladies” were running America.
Musk took to X to make fun of Taylor’s post, writing: “Fine Taylor … you win … I will give you a child and guard your cats with my life.” But the comments were criticized on the social media platform as someone wrote: “Taylor wants precisely zero to do with you.”
Another wrote: “Am I reading this right that you are offering to have a child with Taylor Swift.” One more wrote: “This s— is creepy man.” And another added: “You are creepy and weird.”
