One of the many beauties of country music is the accessibility of covering other musicians’ songs.

Unlike other genres that encompass many different instruments, with country music, to successfully and accurately cover a song all one needs is a voice and a guitar. That said, Ella Langley proved this to be true yet again by covering Willie Nelson’s classic, “Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain.”

Langley, who garnered mass popularity earlier this year with the song “You Look Like You Love Me” alongside Riley Green, proved to the world that she is a heavy-hitting vocalist. And if does not believe that fact, then we’d highly suggest going ahead and checking out this cover she did of Nelson’s melancholic Western song.

Ella Langley’s Casual Cover

This cover didn’t transpire on stage or in a recording studio. Rather, it happened in what looks like Langley’s home. Langley took to social media to share her rendition of the song and also provided some context to go along with it. She wrote in the comment of her post, “This was one of my grandpa’s favorite songs to play and sing, and one of the first songs I learned.”

Given this comment and her history with the song, it would be fair to assume that she’s sung this more times than she can count. And it shows as Langley’s simplistic guitar playing matched with her nuanced vocal range makes for a spine-chilling cover of Nelson’s 1975 No. 1 hit.

Posted three days ago, Ella Langley’s cover already has 404 thousand plays and 463 comments on Instagram. On Facebook, it has garnered seven thousand reactions and 129 thousand plays. Needless to say, Langley might have to include this on her next album.

Who Knows, Maybe She’ll Sing It on Tour

It seems Langley didn’t mean anything serious by this post, or did she? Is this an easter egg to a potential official covering of Nelson’s song? Who knows, but one can dream.
