Taylor Swift-Chiefs Backlash Forces Country Music Star to Delete Social Media

Zach Bryan apologizes for 'stupid' Kanye West-Taylor Swift tweet - Los Angeles Times

Country music has a dedicated fan base, but that’s pale in comparison to the army of followers Taylor Swift has, and one of country music’s biggest current stars learned the hard way that Swifties aren’t to be messed with.

Zach Bryan, whose self-titled platinum album reached No. 1 in the U.S. and Canada, recently deleted his X account after sending an ill-advised tweet about Swift and the Kansas City Chiefs, the team her boyfriend Travis Kelce plays for.

While Bryan likely meant for the tweet to come off as a lighthearted joke, it drew the wrath of Swift’s enormous fan base, prompting him to delete his account rather than be subjected to the continued backlash he was facing instead.

“Eagles > Chiefs. Kanye > Taylor. Who’s with me?” Bryan tweeted on Tuesday.

“Got all brave just to wimp out and deactivate,” one fan commented.

“He knew not to mess with the Swifties,” another wrote.

“’Who’s with me’ ‘8 reposts’ so just abt no one,” a third replied.

“Mad because Taylor WASHES him when it comes to the country genre,” remarked another user.

“Said something controversial and got triggered when people went against him. Good riddance,” exclaimed another user.

While Bryan got raked over the coals for his take on Swift, what he said about the Eagles being better than the Chiefs also doesn’t carry much weight either.

Philly is 1-1 and coming off an embarrassing last-minute loss to the Atlanta Falcons on “Monday Night Football,” while the Chiefs are 2-0 with wins over the Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals.
