Riley Green won his first CMA Award in 2024, and 2025 is looking just as promising. The “There Was This Girl” singer unofficially kicked off his first-ever headlining tour with a New Year’s Eve show alongside touring mate Ella Langley. However, the year has gotten off to a rocky start for the 36-year-old country star after a hunting snafu landed him in the emergency room.

Riley Green “Impaled His Foot” On a Nail

Like any Alabama boy worth his salt, Riley Green is an avid hunter. Over the weekend, he shared videos from his latest hunting trip to his Instagram Stories. He starts off all bundled up head to toe in camo, ready to brave the frigid temperatures and hopefully land a buck.

Then, things took a turn. The next video showed the Division 1 FCS quarterback sitting in an emergency room bed with one boot off. He explained that he had stepped on a nail and “impaled my foot.”

“And when I took my boot off, corn fell all over the floor,” Green said, barely holding back explosive laughter. “The lady came in here wanting to know where all the corn came from. It’s from my boot. You don’t want me to take this other one off, either.”

One TikTok user joked they wouldn’t even notice the corn “cause I’d still be in shock that Riley Green was in the ER with me.”

The next slide shows Green’s view from his hospital bed, as Disturbed’s “Down With the Sickness” humorously plays in the background. In the next, Green playfully begs the doctor to “hit us with it straight” as someone off-camera asks when he can return to the deer blind.

“Oh, you can go back hunting whenever,” the doctor said.

Ouch. Hopefully the recovery is swift. Although, as one TikTok user pointed out, “well u can still sing. no excuses.”

Is New Music On The Way?

Fans rejoiced when Riley Green released his third studio album, Don’t Mind If I Do, in October 2024. And recently, the “There Was This Girl” hitmaker hinted at new music when he shared an unreleased song to Instagram on Dec. 19. Listen below.

“why am i crying,” one Instagram user commented.
