‘American Idol’ Star, Country Icon Luke Bryan Talks the Possibility of Retirement: “I Wanna Have Fun”
Breaking into country music back in the early 2000s, Luke Bryan spent the last two decades leaving his mark on the entertainment industry. And during that time, he won the Entertainer of the Year award a staggering five times. He also sold over 75 million albums and became a judge on American Idol. And when looking inside the studio, Bryan released his first studio album in four years just last September with Mind of a Country Boy. Still expanding his stardom, the singer recently discussed the possibility of retirement and dealing with getting older.
Back in July, Bryan turned 48 years old. While not able to stop time, the hitmaker made sure he continues to make the most out of his career. Knowing he will eventually walk off the stage for the last time, Bryan sat down with Taste of Country Nights to discuss his prosperous career. “I want to be happy. Really try to harness and enjoy what’s happened in my career.”
Although knowing that with age comes knowledge, Bryan worried about becoming bitter the older he got. “You know, you’ve heard the stories of becoming an old curmudgeon as you get older, I don’t wanna be that. I wanna have fun and have fun with this career and look back and say, ‘Damn, that was fun!’”
Luke Bryan Focuses On Being Positive
While life can get in the way and throw a few curve balls at a person, Bryan hoped to always see the good in any situation. Not wanting hard moments to control him, he told host Evan Paul he didn’t want to “Be bitter about any of the ups and downs and just make sure I wake up everyday and try to become a little bit better singer and songwriter … and spend a little more time with the family.”
For now, Bryan isn’t ready to step away from the spotlight just yet. Continuing to judge on American Idol with Lionel Richie, the country singer said goodbye to Katy Perry who left the show to focus on her career. Needing a replacement, producers turned to none other than Carrie Underwood. Known for winning the fourth season of American Idol, Underwood is sure to bring a fresh take to the hit show.
