Cledus T. Judd Recalls That Time Toby Keith Got In A Barroom Brawl
No one messes with the Big Dog Daddy.
Any fan of Toby Keith knows that he’s someone who’ll have your back should trouble come your way. His friend, Cledus T. Judd, tells the insane and hilarious story of when push came to shove.
Judd recently visited TL’s Road House with host Tracy Lawrence, where he shared the awesome story.
The extensive story begins with an annoying fan. Keith and Judd were having dinner out together and a fan wanted an autograph. Toby agreed to sign, although said that he’d do it after he finished dinner, a reasonable request.
They moved to another bar, where the same disgruntled fan approached them again. He was apparently long past getting an autograph, for he said something “real smart” to the duo. Judd recalled Keith telling the fan, “The best thing you can do is probably go enjoy your evening just like we’re gonna enjoy ours.”
But it doesn’t end there.
They went to another bar, and the fan followed them once more. This is when Judd knew things weren’t going to end well.
“I thought, this ain’t gonna be good here, cause we’re all hammered, he’s hammered. And Toby’s 6’4? and this guy’s 5-foot nothing, and it’s going to be ugly.”
Toby Keith Got Into A Bar Brawl After A Fan Insulted His Haircut
“I’ll never forget it as long as I live, he come over that our table and he looked at Toby and he looked at me and he said, ‘I just got one quick question before I get out of here,'” Judd continued.
“The guy said, ‘How much y’all spend on bleach to bleach y’all’s hair so y’all look like a tag team bunch of wrestlers?’ I’ll never forget it, talking about me and Toby.”
“And I thought, ‘Well this is going to be the end of your life right here.'”
And sure enough, Keith acted.
“Toby got up, and he got that guy in the God awfullest position you’ve ever seen, like he’s carrying a 12-pack of beer out of a convenience store.” Apparently, the insulting fan was left hanging, with his arms and legs dangling “like a puppet.”
I’m sure Keith got the message across, never to insult him or his friends’ frosted tips.
Judd continued the story, where he went to strike the fan but missed, striking the floor and getting blood everywhere. Keith, till the day he died, believed Judd scored a whopping hit. Judd never told him any different.
