Tiger Woods’ son has first hole-in-one

15-year-old American golfer Charlie Woods – son of legendary Tiger Woods – had his first hole-in-one in his career, playing with his father at the PNC Championship on December 22.

The Woods family attended the PNC Championship last week at the Ritz-Carlton in Orlando, Florida. In the final round, young Charlie Woods made a big impression when he made a hole-in-one on the 175-yard (160-meter) par-3 fourth hole.

After hitting his seven-iron, Charlie didn’t even know the ball had landed until the crowd cheered and the TV replay showed it. The 15-year-old hugged his famous father and said to the camera, “That was my first shot.”

As he walked to the green to retrieve his ball, Charlie added: “I just hit it, and it was perfect. I wanted it to go left, but I didn’t think it was going to go in. I won’t believe anyone until I see it in the hole.”

Charlie played well but could not join his father in the championship, after losing to the father-son duo of Bernhard Langer in the play-off hole – where Langer scored an eagle. The two teams had previously tied at 28 under par after two days of play totaling 36 holes.

Charlie lost his second PNC Championship final after his first in 2021, but he wasn’t too upset. He received praise from his father. Woods said: “I was happy to see Charlie play and get his first hole-in-one. We didn’t make any mistakes today, but the opponent was great. We made a very competitive team, even though I wasn’t in good shape.”

The PNC Championship is Woods’ first tournament since undergoing back surgery in September. The Tiger has struggled with his health for years, following a car accident in 2021. Despite his efforts to return, he has had limited results and has played little on the PGA Tour.

The last tournament Woods played before the PNC Championship was The Open major in July, where he was cut. Woods has won 15 majors in his 82 career PGA Tour titles and still holds the record for prize money at $121 million.
