Who is the lucky charm in Charley Hull’s life and motivates her to take center stage in the 2025 season?
The 28-year-old English golf star Charley Hull and her late white German shepherd “Bella” developed a close bond over their eight arduous years together. Bella’s presence was crucial to the LPGA star’s life. While there is undoubtedly a void left by Bella now, Hull is inspired to embrace her loss as motivation and intends to honor her memory by performing well on the course.
A bond beyond the fairway
It’s no secret that Hull loves pets. She has mentioned in several interviews how having her pet at her side helps her cope with the demands of playing professional golf. She frequently posts pictures of her beloved pet on social media. She shared an adorable image of her puppy at five weeks and seven months old on social media in 2016, writing, “Woah, this is my dog at five weeks and now seven months old! She is a big puppy”.

In addition to reflecting on the time lost between the two due to her hectic schedule, Hull posted on Instagram the priceless moments she enjoyed with Bella. Throughout her early years, the golfer was surrounded by dogs because her father owned a dog similar to Bella. She also posted a heartwarming photo of her and her father’s dog playing, on Instagram in 2020, writing, “I love watching me and my dad’s dog play! “It’s adorable!” The golfer and her dog had a lot of moments together, such as going for a stroll on the last day of 2020, practicing skincare together at midnight, or watching Twilight on a movie night because it was Bella’s favorite film.
However, on 12th December 2023, Hull lost her faithful friend of eight years, Bella, to sad circumstances. Hull posted a story on her Instagram account announcing her passing with the words, “Gutted RIP my beautiful baby Bella.” She also included some adorable old photos of her with her puppy. In a touching turn of events, Hull recently shared an affectionate Instagram story with a picture of Bella, implying that the memory of her deceased friend will motivate her and bring her ‘luck’ and good fortune as she gets ready to return to the winner’s ring for the upcoming season.
Charley Hull’s quest to end the winless streak
Throughout her professional career, Charley Hull has faced both noteworthy trials and incredible accomplishments. She has two career victories since joining the LPGA Tour in 2015. At the Volunteers of America Classic in October 2022, she finished with a score of 18-under-par, one stroke ahead of Lin Xiyu, her most recent LPGA Tour triumph. Hull has gone without a victory on the LPGA Tour since that title. She competed in 17 events during the 2024 season, earning 15 cuts and five top-10 results, with a tie for second place being her best performance at the ANNIKA. Even with these admirable efforts, success has yet to arrive.
Hull has achieved glory on the Ladies European Tour (LET), though. She won the Aramco Team Series in Riyadh in November 2024, snapping a two-year title streak with a final score of 6-under 66. In addition to giving her more self-assurance, this win showed how resilient and determined she was to compete at the greatest level. Hull is hoping to transfer her LET record to the LPGA Tour as she gets ready for the 2025 campaign. Her recent social media post in which she pleasantly attributes her expected successes to her pet’s “luck” shows that she is positive and set to take on the difficulties that lie ahead.
