Carly Pearce Shares Her Opinion on Beyoncé Receiving No CMA Award Nominations
The internet has been abuzz since the Country Music Association announced this year’s nominees for the CMA Awards and Beyoncé wasn’t among them. Fans and critics alike were upset to see her absent from the list of nominees after the success of Cowboy Carter, her foray into the world of country music. During the 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards, Carly Pearce shared her opinion on Bey’s CMA snub.
Last night (September 26), Pearce spoke to E! News correspondent Keltie Knight at the People’s Choice Country Awards. During the conversation, Knight asked the “What He Didn’t Do” singer about Beyoncé’s lack of CMA Award nominations.
Carly Pearce Weighs in on the Beyoncé CMA Awards Situation
“Beyoncé is Beyoncé,” Carly Pearce said when asked about her lack of CMA Award nominations. “I think she has publicly said that she did not make a country album,” Pearce added. “She was making an album, and yes, there’s a lot of Western, a lot of country elements, because I think she’s grounded in her roots in Texas.”
However, Pearce doesn’t believe that Bey isn’t as concerned about the CMA Awards as others seem to be. “I don’t think Beyoncé cares that she didn’t get nominated for a CMA award,” she said. “And I think everybody can just calm down. I think she’s doing okay. She’s not worried about the state of her career.”
This is similar to what Dolly Parton had to say about the situation. “I think everybody in country music welcomed her and thought that [Cowboy Carter] was good,” the icon told Variety earlier this month. “I don’t think it was a matter of shutting her out, like doing that on purpose. I think it was just more of what the country charts and the country artists were doing, that do that all the time, not just a specialty album,” she added.
Beyoncé at the 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards
Beyonce didn’t receive any nominations for the CMA Awards but that wasn’t the case for the 2024 People’s Choice Awards. The “Texas Hold ‘Em” singer was up for several trophies. She was the most-nominated artist of the night with 12 nods. She even received multiple nominations in a few categories. However, she didn’t take home any wins during the awards show which is decided solely by the votes of the fans.
