Bruce Springsteen Claims Reports That He’s a Billionaire Aren’t True: “I Wish I Was, but They Got That Real Wrong”
A number of media outlets, including Forbes, reported earlier this year that Bruce Springsteen was now a billionaire, with a net worth estimated to be more than $1.1 billion.
Springsteen undoubtedly is very wealthy, but in a new interview with The Telegraph, he insists those reports aren’t accurate.
“I’m not a billionaire,” he said told the U.K. newspaper. “I wish I was, but they got that real wrong. I’ve spent too much money on superfluous things.”
The Boss was raised in a working-class family from Freehold, New Jersey, and was a struggling musician for many years being becoming one of rock’s most successful artist.
He told The Telegraph that he believes he’s earned the right to enjoy his “good fortune,” having “put the work in.” That being said, Springsteen noted that he realized the importance of not letting material things become his main priority.
“[T]hat’s usually where people go south,” Bruce maintained. He added, “If I had failed at that, I would have failed at everything, in my opinion.”
More About Springsteen’s Wealth
According to Forbes, a big chunk of Springsteen fortune came from the 2021 sale of most of his music catalog to Sony. The price tag was about $550 million. Bruce also earns a healthy sum for sales of his albums and tickets to his popular concert tours.
Springsteen and the E Street Band’s Upcoming Tour Plans
Speaking about touring, Springsteen and his E Street Band are about to launch the final leg of their 2024 trek. The eight-date Canadian outing kicks off October 31 in Montreal and is mapped out through a November 22 concert in Vancouver, British Columbia.
The Boss and his group also have 16 confirmed European shows scheduled for 2025. Those concerts are mapped out from a May 14 performance in Manchester, U.K., through a July 3 show in Milan, Italy. Visit BruceSpringsteen.net to check out his full itinerary.
Tickets for Springsteen’s concerts are available via a variety of outlets, including StubHub.
