Last month, the world’s richest billionaire announced he would begin giving away rewards in seven battleground states that could decide the outcome of the 2024 US election.

Many people believe that Mr. Musk’s gifting is a not-so-subtle attempt to attract votes for Republican candidate Donald Trump, whom Mr. Musk has wholeheartedly supported.

Billionaire Musk has given $75 million to America PAC, a political action committee that has funded many Republican candidates, including former President Trump.

On October 20, Mr. Musk posted on social media that anyone who signed his petition would “have a chance to win $1 million every day.”

Despite being allowed to proceed by a judge, Musk’s attorneys and representatives of the PAC said they have no intention of continuing the “sweepstakes” after November 5. The first three $1 million winners were from Pennsylvania, from October 19 to 21. Many others have also won $1 million, in states such as Wisconsin, Nevada, Arizona, Georgia, North Carolina and Michigan.
