Lopez filed for divorce last month
Jennifer Lopez has filed for divorce from Ben Affleck — but it appears as if the drama is only just beginning for the unhappy couple.
With millions of dollars in assets at stake — including their unsold $68 million mansion in Beverly Hills — Lopez and Affleck face a challenge in seamlessly finalizing their separation, even though they had already been living apart for months when JLo filed for divorce in Los Angeles on Aug. 20. Raising the difficulty of that challenge is Affleck’s “situation” with actress Kick Kennedy, with whom he has recently been spotted.
Affleck tries to “erase” Kennedy
According to the Daily Mail, Affleck is sufficiently spooked by the speculation surrounding his connection to Kennedy that he has pumped the brakes on pursuing a potential romance with her — for fear of enraging his estranged wife, and losing more than he bargained for in the imminent divorce.
“(Affleck) is trying to pull the ‘I don’t know her’ card but what he failed to realize is that they weren’t the only two people in the world that knew that they used to hook up, or that they were hanging out again,” an insider revealed.
Despite his previous relationship with Kennedy, Affleck is reportedly also bothered by her father, former presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., opting to throw his support behind Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump. Affleck does not want to be “dragged” into political discourse ahead of the November general election — another reason why he is trying to pull back and downplay his links to the Kennedy family.
“Given the current political climate Ben is putting the brake on Kick,” an insider revealed, as Affleck’s rep denied any romance between Kennedy and the “Gone Girl” star. “But not only because of the Trump connection. He is also concerned about what JLo would think.”
