‘Begin at the beginning’: Taylor Swift celebrates her country music roots in New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS — The screams of 65,000 fans echoed through the Caesars Superdome as Taylor Swift, in a brand-new dress, stepped up to the mic and tussled her bangs for the acoustic set on Friday.

“I’ve been touring in Louisiana since I was 15 years old,” Swift said, and the audience cheered. “You guys have just been so supportive, and I come from country music.”In her orange, white and blue dress, she said, “I thought we might like to begin at the beginning.”

A few chirps were heard from Swifties anticipating her secret song selection.She picked the strings to the tune of “Our Song” off her debut album, and shrieks filled every corner of the arena.

Swift combined the track with “Call It What You Want” from “Reputation.” The two songs are from the two albums Swift has to rerelease.She then walked to the piano to deliver an emotional mashup of “Black Dog” from “The Tortured Poets Department” and “Haunted” from “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version).”

Swift has two more nights in New Orleans before heading to Indianapolis, Toronto and Vancouver. She will sing her last Eras Tour show on Dec. 8.

Taylor Swift’s recent The Eras Tour concert welcomed a special appearance from singer Sabrina Carpenter. This once again dispelled recent rumors of discord between the two sisters.

Before Sabrina Carpenter made her surprise appearance on stage, Taylor and Sabrina entertained the audience with a skit pretending to talk on the phone to each other. They then performed an impressive mashup of the songs Espresso , Is It Over Now? and Please Please Please .

Despite completing their solos well , Taylor Swift and Sabrina Carpenter had difficulty blending their voices together, resulting in each singing a different key in the song Espresso . The reason could be that the two didn’t have much time to practice beforehand because they were both busy with their own tour schedules.

Taylor shared that Sabrina only had one day off and used that time to join The Eras Tour . This “off-key” harmony brought the audience a lot of laughter.

Although this is not the first time Sabrina Carpenter has appeared on The Eras Tour stage , she has often been rumored to have a rift in her relationship with Taylor Swift. Sabrina’s appearance this time has further confirmed the good relationship between her and Taylor, putting those rumors of discord to rest. Recently, the two also took a photo together at the 2024 VMAs in September.

With her explosive rise in 2024, Sabrina Carpenter has been frequently compared to Taylor Swift and there have even been rumors that she will soon replace the All Too Well singer . This is said to have made Taylor Swift unhappy and distanced herself from Sabrina.

Additionally, Sabrina’s collaboration with Kim Kardashian’s fashion brand SKIMS – whom Taylor doesn’t like very much – sparked further speculation. Sabrina quickly posted that she had consulted Taylor before making this collaboration.
