Amanda Balionis’ rise to become one of the best-known figures in sports broadcasting is no surprise to those who have worked with her.

Balionis is renowned for her work on a PGA Tour, where she has been a star reporter for years, regularly quizzing the biggest names in golf. After working on the tour’s in-house coverage, she became a full-time member of the CBS team, where she quickly gained immense respect from her colleagues and bosses.

More recently, the 39-year-old has pivoted into NFL coverage, where she is also proving a hit with fans, with a recent interview with Cleveland Browns quarterback Jameis Winston going viral. In the wake of that interview, the 39-year-old was hailed by fans and broadcast colleagues.

One said: “Shoutout to Amanda Balionis, covering all ground from Rory McIlroy to Jameis Winston.” Referring to Winston’s focused and spiritual message, another added: “Who’s more locked in? Jameis or Amanda Balionis??”

A third said: “Massive shout out to Amanda Balionis, she handled that Winston interview like a pro.”

Back in 2018, Balionis had already been described as a “breath of fresh air” by CBS Sports chairman Sean McManus. He told the San Diego Union-Tribune: “She adds a different perspective to our coverage. She has a lot of credibility with golfers, and they respond well to her.”

Meanwhile, CBS anchor Jim Nantz hailed her coolness under pressure and warmth. He said: “She is unflappable. It’s live TV – no prompter, no notes, just knowledge. And it’s delivered with warmth and kindness – a reflection of who she truly is.”

More recently, Balionis, who is due to return to the world of golf for the 2025 season, shared her respect for her colleagues following the PGA Championship at Valhalla in May.

Posting in Instagram, she wrote: “Couldn’t ask for a better team or better friends to make the best job in the world also the most fun.

“The time, effort and hours put in behind-the-scenes to bring this Championship to life is insane. I’m forever grateful to be a small part of the greatest teams that consistently churn out an unmatched viewing experience.”
